CASE 02: GLOBAL NET „The illegal Mexico deal – the exports of thousands and thousands of G36 assault rifles from Heckler & Koch to Mexican regions of conflict (from 2006-2009)“:
The criminal complaint filed by German anti-arms trade activist Jürgen Grässlin, chair of the Arms Information Centre in Germany, has led to the conviction of former Heckler & Koch employees and a fine of 3.7 million euros against Heckler & Koch. Activists and prosecutors were able to prove that 4702 type G36 assault rifles were illegally taken to forbidden provinces suffering from raging conflict in Mexico. Regardless of the court verdict, thousands have since been killed with G36 rifles in the Mexican drug war.
